I2X Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support ongoing activities for a government customer. This position will be fully remote and does not require an active security clearance.

 

  • Work on a small agile team to maintain program platforms and tools, as well as develop homegrown tools such as dashboards
  • Coordinate with team members and key stakeholders to develop products
  • Write, test, update, and package application codebases.Conduct assessments on code baselines and compare the structure(s) to published code standards.
  • Enforce published code standards in the use of a CI/CD pipeline.
  • Migrate support scripts, data models, essential utility libraries to the cloud.
  • Oversee configuration management of datasets deployed to multiple commercial cloud platforms.

Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge and understanding of application hosting, with at least 2 years of experience using Cloud Services in a Commercial Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) or Platform as Service (PAAS) environment. At least 4 years of programming / scripting experience in Python, C+
  • +, Java, and JavaScript within an Agile development environment.
  • At least 2 years of full life cycle Software design and development experience on large/complex n-tier client/server applications.
  • At least 1 year of using Docker and Kubernetes to automate, scale and build resiliency into applications, as well as packaging the applications with dependencies into containers.
  • Experience building microservices, and/or refactoring monolith applications into microservices.
  • Experience in supporting operations using infrastructure code such as Packer, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and Terraform, to automate application runtimes.Ability to communicate technical information to mnagement and the scientific community, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work as a member of small team using the Scrum methodology
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute multiple concurrent project activities
  • Experience with running containers in High performance Computing (HPC) environments using Singularity.
  • In depth knowledge of the Unified Forecast System (UFS) and UFS model components, specifically FV3, CCPP, MOM6, ESMF, NUOPC, and UPP and related software components such as Spack-Stack, ufs-bundle, and JEDI skylab.
  • Knowledge of the implementation of data assimilation frameworks such as UFS-JEDI.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end model testing frameworks for UFS applications.
  • Experience working with datasets of various formats including NetCDF, GRIB, and/or ZARR
  • Simulation and modeling experience in an HPC environment (cloud and on-prem)
  • Knowledge of resource management platforms such as PBS or SLURM and of workflow management software such as ecFlow or RocotoKnowledge of Agile or Lean-based develoment principles (e.g. Sprints, Scrums, Backlogs)
  • Willingness to take on a Product Owner and/or Scrum Master role
  • Experience using Cloud-based ML/AI services on data sets from Cloud-based repositories.

Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement of up to 20 pounds. This position demands tolerance for various levels of mental stress.
