Responsibilities

Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, engineering estimates, and author and perform formal and informal engineering reviews. Position will also provide mentoring to junior systems engineering team members to enhance skills in the department. Works with the enterprise test architect to enable system sell off of capabilities as required.  Candidate needs to have the ability to be flexible to support various tasking on short notice. Work will be performed under the direction of the Global Architect Lead, and will require interfacing with team members, management, and government customers to ensure high quality products are generated on time and within the resources available. Responsibilities include adhering to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to customer working level counterparts on an as-required basis. Candidate will be actively involved in the efforts associated with Agile development including iteration planning, mentoring team members on architectural patterns being used, and agile team leadership.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree and 12+ years experience or bachelors with 14+ years experience or equivalent;
  • TS/SCI required to start.
  • Possess an understanding of systems engineering process and principles.
  • Proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions.
  • Experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g. specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.).
  • Experience in developing large, complex software systems.
  • Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software and specialty engineers to develop solutions.
  • Excellent communications skills are required (written and oral) as is the ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
  • Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project.

 

Desired skills

  • Experience working within an Agile development environment, domain experience with both Space and Missile Defense, experience with Systems Analysis, Model Based System Engineering, Architecture development, Virtualization, Containerization, and Cloud Computing principles
  • Demonstrated experience working large multi-site software development efforts including external interface development
  • Demonstrated experience executing under Federal Acquisition Regulations including Operational Concept development, Requirements, System Decomposition, Standards Compliance, Design, Implementation and Selloff
  • Demonstrated experience conducting or leading Analysis of Alternatives, Trade Studies and/or Design Evaluations
  • Familiarity with cyber, platform and network architecture technologies, dependencies and design drivers
  • Travel supporting program reviews and customer meetings to CONUS sites including Huntsville, AL and Shriever SFB expected.
  • Desired experience designing large command and control and/or weapon systems
  • Desired experience processing radar sensor data
  • Desired experience with near real time processing, persistence and distributed user community

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The employee must be able to communicate through speech with clients and public. Hearing requirements include conversation in both quiet and noisy environments. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement of up to 20 pounds. This position demands tolerance for various levels of mental stress.
